La Conner

Kai-
Summer feels like a distant memory during these colder months. So lets look back on one of our adventures during the summer. The time Zack and I ended up in La Conner. For those who don’t know La Conner is a small town in Washington State. Its a very artsy, water-front town with multiple museums and art stores of every kind. Even if you aren’t shopping its a beautiful town to walk through and explore or just stand and watch the waves roll in.

It took us about two hours to walk the town. We went into most of the shops and my personal favorites were the Earthen Works Gallery, La Conner Artists’ Gallery, and Nasty Jacks Antiques. There were a lot of other stores throughout the town and some absolutely amazing restaurants. The town has a variety of restaurants and shops to fit any taste. While I may not be a fan of lavender there is an amazing shop that sells lavender … well, everything.

Nasty Jacks Antiques had a large selection of records, furniture, and books as well as anything else you can think of. They even had two zoltar machines. When we went only one was working. The actual Zoltar machine out front would speak but wouldn’t give fortunes but the Old Pirate inside would. Zack found a book that he loved and we had a blast exploring both floors of this store.

One of my favorite parts of our visit was seeing all of the public art as well as all the beautiful flowers. We saw so many beautiful statues and interesting pieces throughout the town. One of my absolute favorites was a steam punk crab holding a violin. Some of the others I enjoyed were Silent Words, Salmon Survival, and Rosary Bead.

I would highly recommend a visit to La Conner if you ever get the chance. I’ll leave a link to the walking tour of the statues and a link to the statue page on La Conner’s website so you can get an idea of what’ll you see if you decide to head up.

Who Are We?

“The beginning is the most important part of the work.” Plato

Kai-
Today, we are going to start something new. This is something that frankly scares me, but before we get into that allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kai and I’ll be one of your two authors on this blog. I’m 21, a college student studying pre-pharmacy, and a retail employee. I like fashion, gardening, cooking, and learning new things. I’m hoping to share my explorations with you.

Why, hello there. Kai already shared with you that this is going to be something new and exciting for us, and I hope that you’ll all bear with us in this process as it’s going to be an extended learning experience for the two of us. I think you’ll see that we’re two very different people in our interests in such, which I would argue is a major reason as to why we get along so well. My main interests, and much of what I’ll be writing about, is the natural world and natural history, along with history in general. The majority of what you’ll read from me will concern birds, and my ongoing quest to see as many as I cant before I bite the dust. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this blog with us, it’s gonna be fun!
